It’s Official!

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Joe Torre confirmed this evening that Manny Ramirez is scheduled to play for the Albuquerque Isotopes during a rehabilitation assignment beginning this Tuesday, June 23 at Isotopes Park.   Barring any setbacks, Ramirez will play for the Isotopes during their series against the Nashville Sounds.

Torre didn’t specify how many days Ramirez would spend with the Isotopes.

For the fans’ convenience, the Isotopes Park Box Office will open 8:00 am each of the next three days.  Tickets can also be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com and via phone by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000.  Tickets are still available for each of the games of this series.

Is the DH rule strict in the PCL or is it flexible? A local TV station on Saturday evening reported that Manny would probablyDH, but that should not be possible when you have two NL affiliates (Brewers and Dodgers). Is there is a exception possible that both teams can agree to use the DH instead of pitchers to give rehabbing players like Manny a chance to get some at-bats in instead of having to play in the field or being limited to just a pinch-hit at-bat?

There is no DH when two NL teams go head-to-head. He would probably pinch hit for the pitcher or play left field.
