According to Baseball America, a recent survey of managers, coaches and scouts has named Albuquerque Isotopes’ catcher Tim Federowicz as the Best Defensive Catcher and manager Lorenzo Bundy as the Best Managerial Prospect of the Pacific Coast League.
Federowicz, 25, is completing his fourth professional season and his first full year at the Triple-A level. He currently boasts a .985 fielding percentage with just 11 errors in 712 chances and has allowed a mere two passed balls through 97 games behind the plate. The 2008 7th-round Draft pick has thrown out 30 of 76 would-be base stealers (40 percent), the highest total in the PCL.
Bundy, 52, is in his 11th year as a Minor League manager, having coached at nearly every level of professional baseball including the Major Leagues for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Florida Marlins and Colorado Rockies. The skipper was named manager of both the 2011 Triple-A All-Star game and XM Satellite All-Star Futures Game, as well as twice earning Manager of the Year honors in the Mexican Pacific League. Entering the 2012 campaign, Bundy owned an all-time managerial record of 598-642 (.482).
